Situation
In January 2025, updated emissions regulations led to significant engine and fuel system changes across a trailer refrigeration manufacturer’s product offering. After these updates, customers, especially those operating in northern climates, began experiencing issues with their existing equipment provider, including:
- Reduced filter life
- Fuel restriction issues
- Cold-weather performance concerns
- Increased service events
To address these challenges, the OEM standardized the DAVCO Diesel Pro® 243 across all units, improving fuel cleanliness, cold weather reliability, and overall uptime.
Quick Facts
Client: A Trailer Refrigeration OEM
Application: Trailer Refrigeration Units
Location: United States
Product: Diesel Pro® 243
Engine: Kubota
Action
DAVCO identified the Diesel Pro® 243 fuel water separator as the ideal solution that could fit within the available package space. To ensure optimal performance, DAVCO collaborated closely with the OEM’s engineering team to validate the design and confirm that the Diesel Pro® 243 would effectively reduce injector and gelling problems. This partnership resulted in a tailored approach that addressed both technical and operational needs. DAVCO also worked with the team to create a retrofit kit to upgrade units already in the field without DAVCO units, decreasing future maintenance costs on existing units.
Results
The OEM saw significant performance benefits by utilizing DAVCO, including:
- Improved water separation and filter capacity
- Increased service longevity through filter balancing and real-time visibility of filter life through DAVCO’s patented Seeing is Believing® clear cover
- Reduced downtime and excessive maintenance costs associated with frequent filter changes and “no start” scenarios due to fuel gelling
The Diesel Pro® 243 is now standard on all new units and retrofit kits are available for all existing units. The full fleet is now protected with reliable DAVCO solutions, reducing maintenance and downtime and increasing dependability for their customers.
