Extend the Life of Your On-Engine Filter

Ensuring that your fleet is successfully moving from point A to point B means you have to assess various operational factors, including maintaining fuel levels. Many fleets have standard maintenance intervals but preventing unexpected issues can be difficult.

Since fuel filters are usually on the engine and not visible to drivers while they’re on the road, operators don’t know if an issue is starting to develop. This can lead to many problematic situations, and drivers might not be alerted until a dashboard light comes on. If these issues aren’t caught early, they can lead to expensive repairs, like a $20,000+ injector failure or a $1,000+ tow plus repairs, something every operation wants to avoid.

This necessitates greater visibility into fuel maintenance, and DAVCO delivers cutting-edge solutions to tackle this issue. Our Seeing Is Believing® technology empowers drivers to extend service intervals and make better decisions about when to replace filters. At DAVCO, we provide dedicated customer service and technical experts on-demand, as we work to maximize uptime and efficiency, extending service intervals by 2-3x.

Fuel Water Separator for Semi-Trucks: Preventing Downtime

There are various fuel-related issues a driver may experience that will require immediate action, such as:

  • Filter reaching the end of its life
  • Fuel quality issues, such as fuel gelling, debris, algae, or water intrusion
  • Air bubbles in the fuel system

These problems occur due to weather changes, the use of fuel blends, or other existing maintenance issues. A combination of these elements can cause injector failures. To combat these issues, our semi-truck fuel water separator helps stop water, air bubbles, particulates, algae, and contaminants from circulating into the fuel system. It also provides a clear picture of your fuel’s health through its different components:

  • Clear cover –The clear cover allows you to see the fuel, to better identify any quality issues right off the bat, such as air bubbles
  • Synthetic media – This helps strip out contaminants before they reach the engine
  • Clear bowl – This area allows you to see what has been separated out from the fuel

These components all work together to deliver the complete solution for your fuel system. When you have a clear view of what’s happening in your fuel system, you can proactively address larger issues. Signals to keep an eye out for include:

  • Air bubbles – Indicating an air leak
  • Gelling – Cold weather affecting the system

This visibility makes a major difference, as our Seeing Is Believing® technology will increase maintenance intervals by 2–3x.

Heating Options That Work Against Winter Elements

Our fuel water separators for semi-trucks also feature different heating options that prevent fuel gelling during cold temperatures:

  • 12VDC Pre-Heater and 24VDC Pre-Heater – Both of these options use the ignition switch to heat fuel prior to running the engine. These heaters are better for on-the-go applications.
  • 120VAC Overnight Heater – This equipment prevents gelling while the truck is parked overnight when plugged in. It holds its own against extreme cold overnight temperatures while parked (must be parked close to an outlet).
  • Fluid Heater – This option uses the coolant or a return fuel blend to warm the fuel while the vehicle is in operation.

DAVCO is committed to being proactive against the cold weather and the problems that it can bring for fleets. We recommend always checking to ensure you have the correct heating options for your unit. We also offer a wide range of service parts, so you can have them on hand in case anything needs to be replaced or modified.

The DAVCO Difference

Hat in Hand
“I have been using the DAVCO product for five years now and would strongly recommend it. I first installed four of the DAVCO 243 fuel filter assemblies on four school buses to monitor their effectiveness. I was shocked at how well this system worked for our application. Most aftermarket systems do not do well on the school bus.”
